Installed the ALTA intake and the new exhaust! Both sound really, really good. The exhaust has a deeper tone than stock. If I could tell you more if I could, I’m testing it for a company and that’s all I can say.
I removed my Sportmax 961 wheels from my R53 before I sold it, so I could use them on the new MINI. Last week I was trying to figure out weather to go with a stud conversion or new 14mm lug bolts. I was also concerned that the tire pressure sensors in the OEM wheels would not work in my aftermarket wheels. Well after a week of research and hauling 4 wheels around in the car, I got may answer and had them installed at Discount Tire. They had to break down the 17″ OEM Crown Spokes, remove the TPMS sensors, break down my 17″ Sportmax wheels to install the sensors and them remount and balance the set before putting them on the MINI. It was a long week and I’m glad its over. Here are a few pictures from the install:
NOTE: Yes, a set of springs are going on the MINI real soon!
The JCW spoiler is going back to the dealer. For those of you that remember, I had one on my R53 and loved it. It however has a flaw, both on the R53 and the R56 version. It whistles! On my older MINI, it was very bad and really never thought it was the spoiler. After having the new one on for less than a week, the whistle is back and I won’t stand for it. I will say it’s more faint than on the last MINI, but I want this MINI to be perfect in every way. Especially since the car is only 7 days old to me. At least there is some good news. MY dealer (FLOW MINI) after some bit of discussion, decided that they would in fact let me return it for credit. I do applaud them for stepping up and doing the right thing. I have on order the Aero Spoiler. It’s quite different than the stock S spoiler, but not a huge amount. I will post pictures of it when it’s installed.
I had all this done yesterday and I must say it all turned out perfect. Tint is 35%, which is the legal limit here in NC.
